Bridging Challenges and Innovations in MOF Research

The Industry Forum at MOF2024 showcased dynamic discussions on the challenges in MOF discovery and synthesis from an industry perspective. How enlightening to hear insights from corporations large and small – from BASF, Saudi Aramco and Total Energy to such innovative startups as novoMOF, Numat and others. The forum emphasized the critical role that AI can play in accelerating the resolution of pressing issues in MOF research and application.
One key takeaway was the shared acknowledgment of the complexities involved in MOF synthesis and AI’s potential to streamline these processes. Discussions highlighted how AI-driven solutions can enhance efficiency, reduce costs and foster innovation in the industry.
In addition to the forum, fellow Aixelo co-founder Yi Luo and I had the pleasure to visit Dr. Nicholas Jose at the National University of Singapore. The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to learn more about his startup Accelerated Materials and discuss potential collaborations and networking within the startup space, all aimed at accelerating materials synthesis and discovery. This exchange of futuristic ideas and visions was inspiring, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in advancing the field of materials science.
Net-net, the industry forum and subsequent visits underscored the significance of integrating AI into MOF research and the vibrant ecosystem of startups driving this innovation forward.
